The most genuine countryside.
Nestled in the idyllic rolling hills north of Rome, a rural scene, the Tartaruga Sabina's traditional role as a working farm makes staying at the villa a uniquely interesting experience. The villa is surrounded by 24 hectares of lush, fertile land, primarily dedicated to growing typical regional products: the famous olive oil and cherries. Within the plot and along its borders there are several country trails that are ideal for relaxing walks, horse riding and mountain biking. Rest under a fig tree and satisfy your urge for a delicious treat!
Tartaruga Sabina's DOP olive oil.
Some of the region's finest olive oil is produced by the hundred-year old olive trees that surround the Tartaruga. The owners have been producing this high quality extra-virgin nectar for years, meticulously observing the skillful techniques of the Sabina DOP (protected designation of origin) olive oil to create a wholesome product with a characteristic yellow/green colour, an intense aroma and a balanced flavour typical of the region. The Tartaruga Sabina is pleased to offer its guests samples of the oil, which is also available for purchase.
The cerase (cherries) of the Tartaruga Sabina.
In the Sabina region, cherries are known as "cerase", and are regarded as a real treasure of these lands. For many years the Tartaruga Sabina has produced its own very high quality cherries. Throughout the Sabina region many festivals are dedicated to this delicious fruit, especially during the month of June: this is the time to enjoy them and taste them in the most typical Italian tradition.
The pond of the Tartaruga Sabina.
The villa has a charming fresh-water pond, which attracts local wildlife and is home to several species of fish. After an invigorating walk from the villa to the pond, one can meditate in its picturesque tranquillity, find inspiration, take marvellous photographs, practise fishing or enjoy a simple picnic.
